Senator Stachowski Celebrates All Things Polish At Pulaski Day Parade

Senator Stachowski Celebrates as Grand Marshall of Pulaski Day Parade

Senator William T. Stachowski marched as an ‘Honary Grand Marshall’ in the Pulaski Day Parade in Cheektowaga, in Sunday. Celebrating the military hero for both Poland and the United State, the Pulaski Day Parade brought out thousands with Polish ancestry, or with temporary Polish ancestry for the day.

Signs of Western New York’s rich Polish heritage were found up and down the parade route, Polish flags, and apparel were sported by participants and spectators alike. There was also plenty of polka bands performing.

“This is a salute Buffalo’s proud Polish history,” said Senator William T. Stachowski. “You can see from all the people that came out, that even if its only for the day, we are all proud to be Polish.”

There are an estimated 300,000 Polish-Americans in Western New York make it one of the largest American communities of that ethnicity.

Senator Stachowski Honors Dave Barus On His Induction Into Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame

Senator William T. Stachowski recently honored Dave Barus on his induction into the NYS Outdoorsmen Hall of Fame. Barus, an East Aurora resident, is an active member and officer in several organizations in Buffalo and the Southtowns. He serves as Director of the Erie County Fish Advisory Board and Chairman of the Fish Committee for the Erie County Federation of Sportsmen, and is the Founder and Chairman of the Teach Me to Fish clinics at the East Aurora Fish and Game Club and at the Bison City Rod and Gun Club Annual Jimmy Griffin Memorial event for inner-city youth.

Senator William Stachowski presents Margaret “Peg” Overdorf, the New York State Senate’s 2010 “Woman of Distinction” with the official NYS resolution. Peg was honored for her outstanding work as the Executive Director of the Valley Community Association (VCA) in Buffalo and for her incredible community service throughout Erie County. “There are remarkable women in our midst whose lives, work, or special accomplishments contribute to making our communities better,” said Senator Stachowski. “Peg Overdorf is one of these special women who truly deserves this honor and I’m just so pleased that her work and her accomplishments have been recognized in this way.” Read More

Senator Stachowski Presents Resolution to Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant Celebrating 45 Years of Service to SOuthtowns and WNY

Senator William T. Stachowski recently presented a NYS Senate Resolution to Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant Celebrating 45 Years of Service to Southtowns and WNY. Started by the Ilio DiPaolo in 1965, after a successful wrestling career, along with his wife Ethel, as a small pizzeria with four employees. Today the staff is over 100, yet the fine family Itallian tradition started by Ilio continues. Joining the Seantor are members of the DiPaolo Restaurant family; Michael DiPaolo, Kristen Mazur, Mrs Ethel DiPaolo, Senator Stachowski, Dennis DiPaolo, Alicia Friedman and Marilyn Hall. Read More

SENATOR STACHOWSKI SPONSORS FREE RECYCLING / SHREDDING DAY

Senator Stachowski sponsored a free Computer Electronics Recycling and Document Shredding Day on June 26, at Hamburg High School. At times the two lines of cars ran the length of the high school parking lot and in to the street. “People came to Protect their Identity to shred their of personal documents,” said Senator Stachowski. “And, many more came for the protection of having their computer records and information properly disposed of, which is also good for the environment.”

Senator Stachowski Helps Break Ground on Roycroft Power House $3 Million Makeover

Senator William T. Stachowski joined the staff of the Roycroft Campus and a crowd of supporters as the rain cleared, to break ground on the Power House Project. The Power House is a landmark on the campus known as the cradle of the American Arts & Crafts movement and will be reconstructed in a $3 million-plus makeover.

The Power House was ravaged by a 1997 fire that destroyed all but two walls of the historic East Aurora structure. In recent years, it has been the source of complaints because of its dilapidated condition.

“Although the Roycroft Campus is not in the 58^th District, it is in Western New York,” continued Senator Stachowski. “I believe that it benefits business and tourism in my district as well as all of WNY. Strengthening the region as a tourist stop, thus strengthening our economy.”
