HONORING
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
100th ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, a great state is only as great as those institutions that perform exemplary service on behalf of their community, whether through unique achievement in its profession or other endeavors, or simply through a lifetime of providing for our society; and
WHEREAS, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor Boy Scouts of America for exemplary service and upon the occasion of celebrating 100 years of exemplary service to the community; and
WHEREAS, since 1910 there have been two World Wars, 18 U.S. Presidents and 12 people who have walked on the moon; throughout that time, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have been going strong; and
WHEREAS, boy scouts of america has helped to shape the character and development of millions of boys and young men over those 100 years; Participants in Scouting engage in a variety of activities and programs that support local communities and teach valuable life lessons and skills; and
WHEREAS, BSA helps youths learn how to grow up and begin to rely on themselves as they mature: instead of sitting at home, Scouts are active; as the BSA begins to embark on the next 100 years of service, the organization plans to adhere to the same concepts of dedication, character and morals to carry it forward; the 100th anniversary is a symbol of the success the program has had in shaping the lives of young people; and
WHEREAS, it is a sign that Scouting is as relevant now as it was back in 1910; instead of getting badges for riding a horse or fixing a buggy, now they get them for high adventure or computer skills; and
WHEREAS, it is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our attention it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those organizations for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that I, State Senator William T. Stachowski commend Boy Scouts of America for its years of excellence in its field, which has serviced many in New York State and beyond, and thus urge all citizens to share in the celebration and to take the opportunity to educate themselves on this important institution in our District; and be it further
RESOLVED, that a copy of this proclamation be transmitted to Boy Scouts of America during today’s events.
