Senator William Stachowski Applauds Halt of NYPA Rate Increase and Bonuses

March 24, 2009

Senator William T. Stachowski (D 58th) today applauded the move by NYPA President and CEO Richard M. Kesse to halt any New York Power Authority rate increases until April of 2010. "This is an important development for upstate New York and in particular Western New York," said Senator Stachowski.

“As one who has been voicing my strong opposition to the bonuses and rate increases proposed by NYPA officials, I am pleased that the Authority has rescinded its plan to provide these pay-outs and increase the rates on homeowners, renters and businesses,” said Senator William T. Stachowski. “The worst economy in 80 years is not the time to raise utility rates. That action would have critically affected seniors and hard working middle class families, and would have forced businesses to reduce payrolls and lose out on investments.”You can watch Senator
